Schools History

Shiloh Bible Institute was founded in February 1984. The vision for a Bible School was first planted in the heart of Edward K. Popovich by the Spirit of God in 1983. After much prayer, fasting and seeking the Lord, the structure and guidelines were formed and the vision of a Bible School gave birth into reality in 1984.

The first year of enrollment included 26 students and was held at the Avella Full Gospel Assembly in Avella, PA.  The foundation was laid as each semester new courses were added until the full three year curriculum was created.  In 1987 there  were nine graduates who successfully completed the School’s requirements.

By the direction of the Lord, in September 1987, incoming students attended classes in the George Washington Hotel, Washington, PA while the second and third year students still met in Avella.   In 1986 God had given the vision to move the entire school to Washington, PA. In 1991 the vision was fulfilled when a move was made to the Jefferson Avenue location.

In 1993 while seeking a permanent location, the Lord gave the Scripture from Isaiah 22:22-25, “And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open. And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father's house. And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father's house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons. In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall the nail that is fastened  in the sure place be removed,  and be cut down,  and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off: for the LORD hath spoken it.”

In March of 1994 God confirmed His Word with Shiloh Bible Institute’s present site on Griffith Avenue in Washington, PA. Soon after, Pastors Ed and Janet Popovich transferred their existing Church from Avella, PA to the Griffith Avenue location. On the grounds are the Church, which includes the Sanctuary and School, and an Administration Building which houses the offices, student bookstore and library.

God has blessed the School through the years and He has provided for every need.  At each step of the way He has shown His faithfulness to do whatever He says He will do. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Founder, the Keeper and the Director of Shiloh Bible Institute, and He will continue to cause it to grow for the work of His Kingdom. Most of all, God is still revealing Himself by His Word in Shiloh, as He said He would when he spoke the Scripture into the heart that then brought forth the School.  “...For the Lord revealed Himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the Word of the Lord
